Just heard on Radio 5 Live that Sir George Osborne has failed to report £500,000 to the parliamentary authorities that he has had from fat cats for running his office. Reported to the Electoral Commission but not Parliament.

Presumably this - like Witney Conservatives' cock ups - will be simply that whereas to the nutterati of the Tory Boy Bloggers Hain is different?

But Iain had heard Hain's statement on the radio so was perfectly able to make a comment. As for "the worst kind of Labour arrogance" it means that Labour ministers won't resign even though they have been shown to be incompetent in their handling of relatively simple things like accounting for donations to election campaigns. Why should we regard them as competent to hold high offices of State?

This a valid question as well as the others that should be asked about the amount of money spent by Hain on his deputy leadership campaign - approaching £200k for goodness sake! (And then to come last!)

It will be interesting to hear about the role of the Progressive Policies Forum too. Not much from "La Haine" yet!
