Labour of Love Links: Hatches, Matches, Dispatches

Today I have reciprocated a new link from John Hirst's excellent site. John was in the shovel for 35 years and posts as Jailhouse Lawyer. He won victory over prisoners voting rights in Strasbourg. I'm sorry New Labour, but John is right. Huntley probably will not vote, but if he does, so what? 85,000 other prisoners SHOULD NOT be deprived of their human rights because of a few badder apples.

I've also added Lorenzo Portal to the works of the shy and unassuming Beedles' About. And also in stark contrast K Cross Clan. I have to admit it I go there and read and write quite a bit. Soubriquet through assorted witch burning, non-PC (but CofE?) "jokes", and 'cos he pretends he's Mr Angry. Dizzy's Opinionated Arrogance is ever a good sourcebook.

Bro Miles Barter has been on for a while, here seen centre practising Action Without Theory on a Doncaster picket, as has fella scribbler Cllr Susan Press who is never cross.

The Daily, Laivakoira Photos (like this one of Old Man Mersey) and Meme Processing, Texan Philosophy have all been on for a while as has Skipper Bill Jones without too many references just yet.

The Blog Father Will Parbury and the GuF Father Guido 'GuF' Fawkes are teetering on the brink for lack of reciprocation of long standing links.

Out sadly go Crazy World of Adele and Reclaim Labour, may they Rest In Peace. Adele has ALWAYS kept to Official Labour Blogging Advice (on her own blog anyway) unlike the Reclaimers but nonetheless I hope that both make a speedy recovery.

This is a fully independent blog and I do not now and never have featured links to any official party sites.

BUT NOT TO FORGET: Tom Watson MP. All the Tories link to him so why shouldn't LOL?

Thanks for the link.
The picket line pictured is in Mexborough.
The strike was last year at the Doncaster-based South Yorkshire Newspapers.
It ended on the promise of a new pay structure which this year brought in rises of something like 15 percent for the lowest paid.
Action without theory but with results.

Excellent. The picture was tagged "Doncaster" - where your blogger lived for most of the first two and a half years of his life, the slum-cleared Swan Street since you ask - by some overworked and until recently underpaid sub-editor who doesn't know their Mexborough from their elbow.

Bet the stone arms and the other GPMU crew know better. If there are any left thanks to [tongue in cheek] self-typing, self-pasting scribbler scum.[/tic] But we're not bitter.

Did you know that after a continuous quadruple shift on City Life I was once tricked into pasting up two pages of classified adverts for the traitor Eddie Shah?

You do now. The pay was crap too.

Chris: Thanks for the praise. Much appreciated as it is my labour of love, at least for 16 hours a day.

Just a couple of small points, it was 35 years in clink, and Strasbourg, and not the capital of Sprouts.

On the votes issue, I am still waiting for a sensible response from Lord Falconer. I note from his speech in Wales a couple of nights ago that he said the Human Rights Act was for everybody. This includes prisoners as he well knows. There really is no excuse is there?

Cheers for the link. Am I a non PC (but CofE) witch burner, or is it Dizzy?

I'm not sure whether it's a complement or not. ;-)

Delighted to be linked to this blog. Thanks.

Jailhouse: there really is no excuse and pounding the Lib Dems over it is facile. IMO. Sorry about shortening your stretch. Something that others would not do for you!

Kerron: you're the witch burner and non PC CoE alright. And it is not really a compliment at all. Today's stuff on kebabs leaves a bad taste.

Grimmer: Many apologies (and to any Crosses that were surprised or offended, blogs will be wagging).

Errors corrected: Always ready to tweak and nuance. Even for wronged Lib Dems. If you don't point out errors you have only yourself to thank if 400 people see them in the next 24 hours ...

Chris
The self-comping scribblers only did it after a tripartite agreement between the NUJ, Sogat, and NGA - the last two being the unions that made up the GPMU.
It is covered in the new history of the NUJ published next month.

Yes Miles - hence the [TIC] tag. But those were gristley times for the industry. [tic]Have you found a TU online bookseller yet?[/tic]

Skipper: You've been linked here for a couple of months in fact! But I don't visit often enough, particularly after the Ozzie soiree. Will try harder.

Saw that Chris Paul typesetting and pasting up his own copy more than once I can tell you. Working the darkroom camera even. The clown.

Quite a change from all the copyholders, copymarkers, stone arms and the rest at Co-op Press I can tell you.

City Life switched to Amstrads for scribblers ascii-ing to Linotype output at the cutting edge of the liberalisation. Joint Chapel and all.

And CL's first Linotyper Alan became one of the first full-page Quarksters on the street of fleet. Or actually more likely at Canary Wharf come to think of it.

How can I be a " fella" scribbler. ????

Well another mention in your esteemed blog. Those stats are mighty impressive too. Everyone denies they read the SMR - but did that story about blogger bloke might have helped?

Actually I do have a portal
http://www.biffadigital.org/

Could I prevail on you to change the link. There is no connection with the waste management company. It's more a reference to being a John Prescott character (sort of).

Susan - Fella is the fem of Fellow. Isn't it? From the Latin?
