In case you hadn't noticed this blog is my entirely personal and eclectic view of the world. Organisations I belong to disown me and every word of this thing - long before the cock crows. I blog what I want and I blog it when when I want. I rarely delete comments and will generally carry corrections and observations prominently on request. This time, and every time ... it's personal.
Call me a bit post-modern and that. But just a bit like a young Broad Left Hazel Blears is this Labour Party card-carrying AWL* member. Innit? * AWL? Don't ask - who knows?

She's a Labour Trot like you were once, you muppet, I mean puppet. And like Hazel was.
AWL is the Alliance for Workers Liberty, a libertarian socialist party. If she's a member of that, I'm guessing she's not a member of the Labour Party.
Libertarian? Don't be silly. The AWL is a 'third camp' trotskyist group, so like the SWP, only more anti-soviet.
In modern lingo that translates into a trot-group that hates clerical fascists and Islamists as much as it hates America. As a result, they are hated by the SWP and the socialist action controlled Student Broad Left (The AWL being the main proponents of the 'ENS' faction), to whom 'anti-imperialism' is the only qualification an organisation needs to be 'unconditionally supported'. As such, they are often found in agreement with racists like Gilad Atzmon (wiki him) simply because of their mutual loathing of 'American imperialism'. Compare and contrast to the AWL, who condemn everyone who is not part of the Labour movement.
Basically, their anti-stalinism means they whack strong criteria onto who they ally themselves with.
AWL members are currently encouraged to become Labour party members thanks to the advent of the Socialist Youth Network and the John McDonnell campaign, for which they, out of all the trot entryist groups, have been the most enthusiastic campaigners. I'm betting that Sofie is a party member, though she can be a bit touchy about these things. Gossip from Matt's place (Dirty Leftie) is that she's a bit funny about the whole elections and socialism tie up...
Sofie is in the SYN and a Labour Party member, as far as I know. It's hardly a state secret. The AWL was once Socialist Organiser......and has about 100 members so I was told by acomrade last night.

If AWL don't stand against LP in elections and tend to support LP she may be allowed to be in both. But don't ask me. Have never been a sectarian.

Oh I know who Gilad Atzmon is alright. Very saxy. No need for Wiki on that one.
Elections and socialism always provides for a bit of tension. But hey ho, Doncha know, War is not the way to go ...
There's gonna be a revolution ...
... But when you talk about destruction?
Doncha know that you can count me out?
blah de blah blah blah
Sounds very interesting to me. A right shake up for the NUS if Sofie - Hazel's "before" clone - is indeed successful, as we expect.
Didn't Sofie split up with Matt because he joined the Labour Party?
Oo-er. this is not Friends Blog you know. Though I suppose it is Labour of Love ...

AWL is Socialist Organiser of which more than a few current and ex Manchester Labour Councillors have been members of.
Cheers me dears for clarification.
