UK-elections-2007: Manchester, No Seats Change Hands ... or Do They?

Not a one. Well, at least that's the word with one seat to declare. That seat being, sod's law, my home ward.

Close in Miles Platting and Newton Heath, close in Northenden, close presumably in Chorlton. Staggering majority for Afzal Khan. Also Rosa Battle. But worrying total for BNP in Higher Blackley though this used to be major NF stamping ground.

Longsight and Gorton North - which saw Labour gains last time with women candidates - should really have been AWS.

No Tory breakthrough in City Centre. In fact they were still third. No great fruits either from Dave-id Cameron's regular sorties to United Estates in Wythenshawe. Though there was a bit of a kerfuffle in Sharston.

Why is Chorlton taking so long ...?

Just had some Tory on the telly saying Liverpool and Manchester as "inner city councils" and it's "suburbia where the gains will be made". The party of the south gets nowt.

Well, looks like we've lost Chorlton by 35 votes. Take her savings, take her living ... Leech, what a charmer.

isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Perhaps anonymous would like to "come out" with a name and explain themselves? LOL is a blogger, not a charmer. Leech is supposed to be a charmer but in real life he is sour and twisted.

Angela will now have the time to work on her memoirs.

Angela made the decision to jump ship because she thought the tide was turning to Labour.

But then she wasn't the best political pundit.

It seems the decision was a mistake.

Labour were unable to cover the fact that she was useless.

Also - why the venom Chris Paul? Usually reasoned argument would suffice, if the argument is strong.

Insults are a last refuge...

Why the anonymity scoundrel? Angela was pushed by foul behaviour and whether she realised or not a plot to de-select her. Angela was mistreated throughout by the Lib Dems and by Leech in particular. There should be rules preventing these sorts of donations. £23,000 is a good deal of money. The fact that is was used to spread fibs must have been infuriating even is there was a buzz from making something happen. Leech would not have won without Angela's money. Lib Dem treatment of her has IMO been disgraceful.

This is not venom ... it is reasoned coverage of a poisonous local Lib Dem party behaving badly.

It is of course very telling that an anonymous pundit offering a critique of a personal blog which is all about opinion and insight should remind us that "insults are a last refuge ..." of a scoundrel.

Meanwhile calling someone "useless" who provided your man Leech with the means to get elected who was - by Lib Dem standards - a principled and hard-working candidate, absolutely stuffing Glover and Bhatti. Bah, bah, humbuggery.

Also of course insulting 1800 voters as you go. Angela was taken in by Leech and the way she's been treated should serve as a warning.

Get a blog. Or get some guts and use your own name next time you come here with your insults.

Well said Chris Paul. It's time for John Leech and the Lib Dems to work out a payments plan to give Angela Gallagher all her money back within a year. Leech's monthly gross is more than £6,000. Shouldn't take long. Even John Leech's own mum lent rather than gave money. And far less.

Lib Dems are completely unprincipled and apolitical. They continually insult the voters with their lies and with their appalling record of slacking when they are elected.

They offer no policies. Just misery and negativity.

Who would you guess was writing Lib Dem crap on your blog in the wee small hours?
