London Mayor: Turn Again Dick Witty Ham

Boris Johnson has issued a statement on the issue of whether he should run against Red Ken for London Mayor. Iain Dale carries the text. Earlier he carried this picture from Theo which tends to confirm the impression that Boris and the Tories generally confuse the Mayor of London job with that of the Lord Mayor of the City of London. I can only imagine that Boris thinks the one with the robes, the tricorn hat, the stockings and the camp parade is "fun" and would rightly consider the job of running a great city completely beyond his meagre O. Etonian practical talents.
Turn again Dick Witty Ham!

I am aware of the difference. However, as it is South of Watford, it does not really matter in the great scheme of things...

Any more than the wetness of Hull matters to the government of the day.

The robes are actually those of the Lord Mayor of Westminster (note the portcullis on the end of the chain, the civic symbol of the City).

Thanks David. What a school boy blunder of mine. Of course the LMotCoL robes are all ruby red and ermine are they not?

Still, the point stands. Bozzer would be better at the pomp and circumstance then the graft.

Btw, you're not Iain Dale's Westminster CC insider on planning matters are you?

Shh, everyone will realise.

OK, our little secret. Shhh. Shhh.

Ahem! You might have noticed that Hull and the flood damage issue is now national news. First Hilary Benn said that no central funds will be available to cover the cost of the flood damage, then Hazel Blears said that central funds would be made available...

Thought they had announced immediately the waters rose that 80% of costs would be met?

Has someone or other been misquoted or selectively quoted? And anyway, it was OT the first time. Not much better now ...

Certainly not for the Hull area. Benn pledged £200M increase for flood defences for down South.
