Newsnight: Ealing Southall, the W.O.T.S.
Word on the street says majority down from 11,000 to two or three. But hold. And the word is that following that fabled "late surge" the Lib Dems copycat will take a clear second with the Tories trailing in a sad third.

Sky reporting Labour is very nervous
Of course they're nervous: it's always the case until you actually start seeing the ballot papers. Tony Lit was very high profile in the end, and this is bound to introduce an edginess.

The only bit of news to filter out that I think I have any trust in (and then not much) is the LD's surging to a good 2nd in ES. But let's just wait and see.
A majority of 5,000 + for Labour would be good news.
2,000-3,000 majority - not too bad - Labour will not want to repeat the same selection mistakes. Keith Vaz should get a good kicking.
Less than 2,000 majority - bad news for Labour, but still not a loss
Loss for Labour = disaster
But looks like 2,000-3,000.
2nd for LDs will save Ming.
3rd for Conservative will show they picked the wrong person. Defections from Labour would have happen anyway - a stronger candidate than (own goal scoring) Tony Lit could have capitalised on this.
On Sky they said that it's close between Lab and LD. Tories in third place, LD a good healthy second, close, but maybe not enough (they said the same in Dumfermline, so you never know until the end...)

We've lost seats with bigger majorites and the Tories in government lost seats with far bigger majorities in by elections.A win would be a good result, the Tories in third place would be a fantastic result...
Little or no difference in the actual Southall votes.
