Gordon Brown: Willing to See Lisbon Fail, Sunday Times

The Sunday Times has a meandering round up of European sentiment on the Irish Vote and its significance and reckons, and this is no great surprise to Brown watchers, that he might rather let Lisbon go than fight on. We'll have to wait and see what happens over the next ten days. At a Manchester Area Co-op Party meeting yesterday Jacqui Smith's PPS Andrew Gwynne appeared to think it a Blair mistake - albeit understandable - to promise a referendum, and that even though the Treaty was significantly different we should have had one.
