Lib Lab Pact: Does East London Show Us All the Way?

Are Lib Dems and Labour really Montagues and Capulets, or Sharks and Jets of Tower Hamlets? Super scooper scribbler Ted Jeory casts these parties and star crossed lovers Stephanie and David as "opposites". Though surely the Libs will be lucky to scrape fourth in Bethnal Green and Bow? Even the Tories have nicked a Trot or two.

Nevermind. Can readers name any interesting precedents? Outside Verona and NY NY Westside? Is Lembit's Cheeky a Stalinist on the QT for example? And what's more can we have some proposals of marriage? Whose convertible should my eligible and toothsome, but currently car-less source leap aboard for one?

And which other politicians past, present or future should hook up? Or have already done so beneath the radar?!

Mrs Bruntland was Labour PM of Norway when her husband was a Conservative front-bencher.

Former Labour MP for Bristol West Val Davey's husband Graham was the Green Party Agent for Bristol.

Wandsworth Labour Cllr Leonie Cooper is married to former Hackney Lib Dem Cllr Adrian Gee-Turner (I believe they met through the MSF union).

Have Luke's testicles descended yet?

A good start from Luke. Anonymous however has, as ever, lowered the tone.

Doesn't that Adele Reynolds hobnobble with Tory and Lib Dem wastrels?

Harking back to the Jennifer's Ear debacle in the '92 election, wasn't the father a Labour party guy and the mum a Tory?

That may be so. Though I think the MEN may have had a husband and wife team standing against one another for the same ward. I'll check.

But there must be some more famous pairings? There was one of the two fat ladies with an MP of unidentified party and identity hobnobbling behind the Speaker's Chair.
