ComRes for Indy: Worst Poll Ever ... Since 2003

The Indy on Sunday trailed at Political Betting earlier has just arrived at the appointed place; "Labour Hits Record Low". Lowest numbers for Labour since ComRes began and record-equalling 21% lead for the vacuous wet Cameron on various questions. ComRes incidentally began in 2003, which is not something that the Indie highlight when declaring these new world records.

The finding that marginally more people thought Cameron would do better on knife crime than Brown is bizarre because this is not really a party political metric and especially as "evidence' in London is that Tories make things worse.

UPDATE 23:29: As Diablo points out ComRes began this particular poll in 2004. By coincidence or in response the Indy stealth-added that fact to their post only some time after LoL pointed the omission out.

UPDATE 23:47: The full poll details can be downloaded by clicking here. There are some devils in the details. Tomorrow perhaps.

In the interests of factual accuracy - I know you are keen on such things, Chris - the Open House blog did say: "ComRes has been carrying out opinion polls for the IoS since 2004".

Not 2003, as you have reported. Perhaps you'd like to correct this small but important error?

What "evidence" would that be? Not anecdotal evidence by any chance? Or perhaps a baseless assertion on your part? Or, just tripe?

Just asking.

Er, ComRes have only existed since 2003. Four years being less than five, the point stands.

When did the Indy blog stealth add the ComRes info anyway? When they saw the criticism on my blog perhaps?

The reference to "evidence" in inverted commas is of course slightly macabre taking the piss out of Dale's evidence based blogging on crime.

That's what I like about "debating" with you, Chris - you don't! I'm wrong, you're right. Fair enough.

I was just trying to be precise. ComRes came into existence in 2003 but they didn't start working for the IoS until 2004. Agreed?

So your "evidence" was an attempt at humour?

I see. It's OK for you to make baseless assertions but if another blogger tries to make a serious point then it's OK for you to rubbish their interpretation without any facts to back it up.

I'm just a silly old blogger who finds your particular brand of vaccuous apologies for the appalling mess that this Labour government has created very amusing. You seem to be getting more desperate in your efforts to defend these no-hopers.

If I were you I would stick to lampooning your local LibDemologist MPs and their associated councillors. It seems to be a rich vein for a man of your particular talents.

Hi Chris,
Are you saying that, once you get into the detail, labour might prove to be as popular as cup of cold sick?
What a scoop?

Er, no Oscar. Go and read the detail. The cold sick idea only applies superficially you'll find. Scrape the surface and you're on to warm sick. Delve deeper and the experience continues to improve from there.
