Blogtastic: Little Pot Boiler

I'll be brief. Last night's party terrific, raffle magic taking home a half dozen of Geoff Bridson's Salmonella Specials (more - possibly recipes and pictures anon), some fantastic and very bloggable gossip.

Before that the food shop saw a renowned local anti-megastore campaigner shopping at one - outside his constituency - though this blogger couldn't attract eye contact as the sad man kept looking at his shoes. Then it dawned on me. There was something about those shoes ... more anon on that too.

This morning some sociable work on the knocker in Burnage, teamed up with Naheed and Tarus, and meeting the famous ex-Labour councillor Sam Darby and knife-waving Linda (more and picture anon). Jenny and Lucy also spotted. Latter in the midst of a "Clot" of Bradleyites. Not saying Nargis or Yogesh weren't there mind.

Naheed is going to do the Trotty hustings which means Lorenzo23 will be voting for Lucy - unless that is he changes his radical SWP-baiting position over the news that it is good Churchians wot did it.

Next stop: The White Swan in Ladybarn to help Withington BLP with their campaign (2pm, 3:30pm for lordly buffet). This was an old haunt of mine in cricketing days. Will miss watching the World Cross country with Tomas and Tarus (supporting Kenya and Ethiopia respectively).

There is just a chance that a Londoner will get in the mix. And the GB women may be medallists.

Kenyans have been less dominant, even beaten in the World Cross these last few years. Particularly by a Mr Bekele who has been doubling up and winning TWO races in TWO days.

But this year it is in Mombassa - zigging round a small part of a Golf Course - and the Kenyans'll be on home turf. And they've cancelled the second race ...

UPDATE: Good session campaigning in Withington. Five times as many volunteers as Dolores ever had last time out. Which seems desperately unfair. But so it goes. Some bloggables to follow. Meanwhile in Mombassa the thought of only having one race to win was too much for poor Bekele who dropped out. Kenyan teams won men's senior and junior races. A Kenyan woman won the women's individual as well. And if she had still carried a Kenyan passport that would have meant a clean sweep in the teams, but she's a Netherlander now. Cockney Mo Farah (GB) had an amazing run - as predicted here - for 10th.

I think the letter in the SMR has our Keppel Road opportunist Trot's name on it. If every candidate in the room opposes the last war in Iraq - where is the debate? I suppose it's an evenings entertainment for people who can't vote on Saturday and voted Leech in 2005.

Pity really, I liked the Nagis leaflet in today's post. It was more of the sort of propaganda material the Party should be doing instead of yet another "Working For You". The fishnets might have it yet.

The letter certainly does have his name on it. unlike the one from Norman's daughter Hayley and her Boyf where the name has been dramatically withheld. Though I'm not sure they really wrote the thing ...

You know H was supposed to have the third slot on the LD slate in M21 2004? With Missing Glover and Bhatti Senior? Sadly circumstances befell her. John would have got in at that rate. Angela would not have been a candidate.

Leech might not have got his hands on her money. And being unable to spend spend spend on glossy hoax leaflets he would have been history before he started. There's a lot to be said for safe sex.

Have always seen this idea more as an opportunity for a "live" run out and head-to-head than any kind of for- or anti-war debate. Think Mark messed up pretty badly. Splitters! The audience are 'extras' and the stars get a chance to shine.

You may now have another choice as Yogesh has been unable to move another appointment.

The Nargis leaflet was/is really excellent. Tempted to put in up in my window. Have you received a new one from Lucy?

I await the Lucy leaflet. I'm a follower of propaganda - Nagis has it, Jenny needs more money, Lucy glossy, bright start, but no more ideas.

Found the whole process both flattering and a bit embarrassing having someone court your vote.

Appreciate the argument about seeing the potentials in a situation not as stifled as a Party get together meet up. Might have to soften my line here. Don't do it if you are reading this.

Still all to play for - I've only got one vote. Let's choose wisely next Saturday - someone who WILL be Withington, Manchester and not London against the imposter I've never met in brown shoes, two jobs, and 150k expenses.

Might I respectfully suggest that you can't judge a candidate on the amount of money they spend on campaigning?
That wont be an issue in the election proper.
And there are a lot of better causes for money to be spent on than advancing people's own careers!
