Hazel Blears and Kitty Ussher: Working Too Hard to Win for Labour? Says Mr Cross or Mr Angry or Something Like That

I was intrigued by Tom's link so I went to see what Kerron was on abaht. And surprisingly Kerron has come over a bit trotty too. I think most of the questions raised are not actually that clever or that short of reasonable answers. Someone who really wants to be selected will put in the work of collecting and storing names and contact details for the selectorate. Hazel is not the only one who does that. Not by any means. Ian Stewart MP has been finding this out to his cost. And making himself ever so selectable elsewhere with talk of Chancery.

Kerron has also linked this case of campaigning very hard to get (s)elected to one of his hobby horses ... Ms Kitty Ussher MP. The delectable Mr Cross is cross about her methodology. Work, work, work ... If at first ... Try, try, try ... and so on.

The K Cross Clan lists a post for every word of his payoff. Which is not to say he is obsessing. It's just that he's doing what he says Hazel and Kitty should not do. Pursuing his campaign with vigour and determination.

That pay off: your - dear - friend - and - mine - Kitty - Ussher?

Fellow traveller Neil Harding commented:

Kitty Ussher is exactly the sort of 'career politician' we should avoid. I think her grandfather was a politician. Being a politician seems to be like being a member of the royalty nowadays, you have to have genetic predecessors. I don't know Ussher's politics, but its a bit of a disgrace she got the Burnley seat.

Will has been will-fully and continuously down on the grrrl too. I'm not so sure. Kitty has good teeth, Kitty was already a Westminster Village insider, Kitty commuted to the NW determinedly from London, and her home was handy for the job too. Just the ticket. Though to be serious for just one moment Kitty appears to LOL to understand the BNP threat and have reasonable ideas on how to see it off.

Meanwhile I have found myself sticking up for Hazel HERE, and HERE and teasing only gently HERE and HERE. Always taken in good part.

Somewhere in LOL HQ's digital archives there is a marvellous picture of your blogger, plus an alleged ruthless Stalinist, an accountant - all seriously six footers - and Ms Blears. We'll see what we can do to find it.

I see she has Paddy from Phoenix Knights backing her. That beats Victor Meldrew backing Mr Hain every time.

Paddy's backing Kitty Ussher? The famous behind-the-lines parachitist? Some resemblance to Lucy Powell doncha think? And Barbara Keeley? Oh, he's backing Hazel??

Chris, I'm not challenging Hazel's hard work or determination - or that she is a nice person - I am simply raising questions as to how and why she is mailing all these non members.

I am worried about data protection issues for one thing. How has her team got the name of current and ex-staff, and why have only certain staff members been targeted and not others.

If nothing else it is a chronic waste of money contacting so many non members with 12 page glossy leaflets and a colour cover sheet.

I still haven't heard a decent/believable explanation yet for how the names were obtained or why only certain individuals are being contacted.

(Oh yeah, and it's Cllr Cross. :-p)

Err, sorry Councillor Cross of the K Cross Clan. It's a trotty post with no substance mate.

And the Kitty Ussher campaign is relentless ... and pointless really. It's too late to undo the selection of the people of Burnley CLP (a famously in the pocket of new labour CLP btw).

Concentrate on outing the Kitty Ussher's of the future, they're not spilt milk, not just yet anyway ... or at least print some election stats showing how the selection of KU in Burnley helped the Lib Dems to close on Labour by more than they would have done with a different candidate or in particular a BME or a more trotty anti-war candidate. That would be a service to humankind.

And when you've found out how Hazel legitimately if rather wastefully did this thing then simply tell Jon and his backers may do the same.

PS Has anyone formed a collection of all those Labour parachutists doing rictus in front of a low rent HP backdrop?

"has been will-fully and continuously down on the grrrl too."

I think this is an unfair description

For instance you did not cite my support for an Ussher premiership

"I say hold on for the top job Kitty." and given the way the polls are going for Brown we might need her sooner than even I had anticipated

There is also her brilliant article on energy policy which had my full support.

OK there was the article on wanting to be a minister that I did take the piss out of but it was well deserved and it should be a lesson that she learns not to write such self aggrandizing bollocks.

It should also be pointed out that I have been campaigning in Burnley on more than one occasion. I can even find my way from Burnley Bus station to the Labour party offices in Burnley without a map.

You're a good egg Parbury. I'm sorry. I must have misinterpreted your remarks. You should try to combine the job of Kitty's agent with your own candidacy not so far up the road in casino dreamland if I'm not mistaken.

That leaves only Cllr K Cross Clan to repent and recant and recycle the Blears print effectively.

I now have a collection of small images with blurry HP backdrop ... story may follow.
