National Rail Card System: Number 10 "Market Forces" Reply to Green Rail E-Petition



You recently signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to
"create a national railcard and make all train fares more
affordable than the corresponding car journeys, for the sake of
our environment."

Some valid points under the marketised model. But surely time for HMG to phase out the privateers and re-unite the rail and the stock?

Anyone who follows a PTA or PTE's business (trainspotters of the world unite) will know that service subsidies are a racket which the operators play with panache.
