South Manchester Distorter: From Five Men and Their Dog to 80,000 Readers

For anyone reading this South Manchester Distorter story about the Bollocks Blogging Bloke mentioned in the last story may wonder why the caring sharing Lib Dems didn't ask him to take it down six weeks ago rather than deliberately propagating it to 80,000 readers. That really does show what they are like. Complete tossers!

As for this poor bloke's local Labour Party ... what are they up to? Why didn't they just say: "It's some bloke's blog. We have no control over it. We believe XY and Z about Chorlton Park. The Lib Dems are letting residents down with lies and hoaxes."

There is an opportunity for comments at the SMR site.

It was a daft thing to do but the tone of the article was not bad. More seriously, I want to know what member of the GC leaked the minutes of a confidential meeting to the SMR. Who ever it is should be expelled from the Labour Party. I hope the CLP Officers will hold an enquiry.

Mmmm, it might be a fib about the minutes. If they leaked the real minutes of the EC (EC not GC I think?) then this poor Nick, bless, wouldn't have got his story so obviously bolloxed up. The dates don't make sense. The alleged complaint doesn't make sense. It just doesn't make sense.

Why would anything like that be in the minutes. We wouldn't do it here in Brent. Someone would only go and give it to the papers! Doh.

And btw leakfindergeneral what was a daft thing to do? The original story - in which case why didn't YOU have a quiet word with this blogger bloke, whoever you are - or the rather clumsy news management that has followed?

From this distance that seems deliberately mean spirited to me. Is it connecetd to your selection?

But I agree it's not too bad. But it is I think worse for both the local LP and the blogger bloke than it would have been if LoL's formula had been used.

I thought the original Shameless stuff was misjudged - not because of the very mild fun it poked at some obviously over sensitive fib dems but because it could be used on the estates to suggest that whats Labour thinks of everyone in Chorlton Park.( It looked a bit snobby frankly)
However the intervention of a local ( well neighbouring ward anyway )councillor and all the stuff about "disciplining" Chris has made things a 100 times worse - we look like the control freaks we are often accused of being.( Which we're not)

Oh Chorlton Parkie ... why did you say nothing? Advice is cool, even a bit of whining here and there acceptable (though drunken tossers whining about some other blokes photos which are OK anyway do not float my boat) ...

After the fact "Didn't tell you so" is pretty hard to stomach. "Told you so" would look so much better on your CV as a blogger's friend.

The Labour candidate for Chorlton Park should get out there and make this into a win.

I reckon the blogger bloke will have a good script if you only ask ...

Neil GC members see minutes of the EC. If it is the case that the Deputy Leader of the Council, which the article mentions, gave SMR the confidential minutes of the EC, which is against LP rules, then this person is not fit to hold that office and should be sacked by the Council Leader.

Fair enough - will be more fothcoming with editorial advice in future - guess it all seemed a bit trivial until this mad article and the madder response

Hang 'em Flog 'em: don't be silly. Val and/or whoever else talked to the journo was/is doing their best for Manchester Labour. SMR are generally monstrous and negative. As others have said it is not a bad result overall.

The quotes Nick chose for me from the cornucopia provided were fine (they were ALL fine) and fair which is all I can ask really. But the old media - new media thing was evident as he thought he got 5 pages from me. In fact he got 5 kilobytes of green ink that needn't have ever been printed.

The monstering from LP is to be expected and I humbly accept that. Script on blog is better tho.

Chorlton Parkie: Thanks for the recognition. And everyone. I welcome well-meaning advice. It's my blog and in end I decide. But although I've actually had a great day that blogger bloke had a shock at the monstering. See above. So advice is welcome.

Text me Parkie if there is something I was supposed to be blogging. Tomorrow I'm going to do the pathetic Lib Dem showing at Budget Day Council. Also that Police thing I hope. Probably have a pop at Fawkes or Dale. CP: Laugh Out Loud - business as usual.

Let's hope the National Media don't pick the story up. But I will add my email and mobey to the header just in case they need a statement.

I don't believe they did that. Apart from the possibly wrong-headed Shameless stuff - though I know what you're saying, Norman is on the wrong side - this is a really really good blog.

Why did Norman get uppity about your story? Was probably a dozen people seen it. Now thousands.

Norman must be mad ... particularly as more than a few people will know he's much more like Frank than he'd like to admit.

Can you give any more detail on the other Lib Dem and the death threats story you've removed Chris? Or is that now embargoed for another day? When they are a candidate perhaps?

Sorry to the last anonymous. No can do. Have also had a stream of anecdotes flowing into the mailbox about "clean" Norman and his antics. But I can't blog those either until they are investigated and stood up properly. Keep 'em coming!

Interesting that while both men and women who know Normy think the look alike thing is fine the men are more likely to think he is a good bloke than the women who raise their eyebrows or shrug their shoulders when asked.
