Chorlton : Paul Ankers' Godfather Writes ...
Oh, alright then. The incoming email was from Dave Hennigan who has been blogged about here before:Chris,
As Paul's daughter's godfather - I don't believe this at all. Paul is a man of integrity who lives in Chorlton. Good Lad - I laugh at most of the stuff you do but Paul would never do this. I've known him for 10 years and he simply wouldn't do this.
As far as Chorlton is concerned - I'll be going from Rochdale where we are walking it here. Labour are crap here and I said six months ago that when I was confident of success here we would close it down and go to Chorlton.
Regards,
Dave
Apart from the fact that Dave would be better off going to any number of other places to defend weak and failing Lib Dem councillors who are struggling than coming and joining in where John Leech is trying to get his own back on his £23,000 benefactor Angela Gallagher. Let's see:
He could defend Simon Ashley, their Group Leader, who is struggling to even carry his own party with him in Gorton South. Julie Reid could scupper him. Perhaps that's what Lib Dem managers want?
He could defend Faraz Bhatti, the do-nothing overnight sensation of a PPC, who is losing to former councillor Kath Fry who is a tireless worker and will surely see him off in Whalley Range.
He could try stopping another 900-vote landslide in Longsight! Or a mullering in Gorton North! Or being beaten by both Tories and Labour with a stay-away councillor in the City Centre. Or perhaps stopping the man accused of Nazi Saluting in the Council Chamber losing his seat over his inaction in Burnage.
For goodness sake Dave ... the Lib Dems don't have the troops to defend those seats never mind attack ours. I don't actually think Labour are crap in Rochdale. But I do know the Lib Dems are crap in Manchester. You are a born-again propagandist but you are taking the Michael here.

WW: Brookland PO anecdote. Do you have the name of the pensioner and/or of the two Post Offices?
Next there'll be a letter in from Paul saying he's known Dave for ten years and it idn't him in those sensational photographs ... either than or sacking the sad sot as his daughter's godfather.
Have the Rochdale Observer been on the line?
Why didn't you mention Newton Heath where the Fibs are running an ex-Labour, ex-Independent, ex-UKIP loser and sometime criminal? Or their disgraceful candidate in Ancoats and Clayton? or the fact they've dumped their PPC candidate in Cheetham? they really are in a mess when you've no space to dish even half the dirt ...
Chris
Paul Ankers' reply on johnleechwatch said he was canvassing near Cllr Val Stevens' home. The council website suggests her address is M21 9LA. I was at a bus stop 200 metres away.
Whilst I don't want to get bogged down with this level of trivia but how can Dave Hennegan insinuate that my tale is made up. He wasn't there. I was. I saw. I heard.
And it wasn't mistaken identify given that his mug keeps landing on my doormat and he had a big yellow rosette on.
All of which hardly supports your world view...on this occasion.
All of which doesn't change my opinion cos I'll be voting neither Labour or Lib Dem.
PS: I'm free on Saturday for a Crimewatch-style reconstruction...
Crimewatch style reconstruction sounds good John. Location scouts are out and about and secret CCTV tapes are being pored over.
Hennigan is a fine one to give a bloody reference when it comes to swearing and insulting behaviour - I'll tell you that for nothing.
Hilarious letter from Max in SMR calling Labour for being negative on leaflets. Does he not read the Lib Dem rubbish?
As you say John no mistaking Ankers when his smudgy face is on the mat every couple of days.
No-one will work for Leech ever again if his obsession with Chorlton leads to a narrow defeat here for them, plus losing five or six other seats they held before.
The arithmetic is ridiculous. They could lose seats and squander majorities all over Manchester just to feed his manic obsession.
So you are going from Rochdale to Manchester a non target authority for the lib dems. Ha, waste your time!
rochdale to leech defeat land. Your as mad as a a badger
"Leech defeat land" - actually I rather like that phrase, there's something about it, ain't there, well ain't there? - to Rochdale.
Mad as badger better than drunk as a skunk posting at 2:26 am on Labour bloke's blog ...
goodness, the Libs did rather well in every one of the wards targetted by Labour's blog bloke. They won all of gorton north, longsight, whalley range, burnage, city centre and chorlton!
In "sir" Richard leese's time as Labour leader, the libs have gone from 15 Councillors to 34 cllrs and an MP, so it looks like they're not doing too badly after all!
