Iain Dale: Blogging Expert Shows Off Broken Links?

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant how Iain Dale's expert discussion of money making potential of (political) blogs is every bit as ever so politically neutral as his Lord Ashcroft-bankrolled organ Total Politics (link is my little joke, sorry). His treatise being on the question Can British Bloggers Make Money Out of Blogging?.

Of the fully thirty one blogs name checked I can spot just the four at what you might call the progressive end of British politics:

Labour Home, Liberal Conspiracy, Lib Dem Voice, and Comment is Free.

At Iain's this latter is just one of the c 50%+ of broken links at the time of writing. "Blogging "expert" misses http:// from half his hand-crafted links, shock horror". Hopefully they're correct at the journal that's paid him to write the piece?

The rest of the British name checks are to "right spectrum" blogs, some mainstream, most just Iain's Tory and rightwards mates. So sadly no room for secretive Iain's true favourite blogs.

God you're an incisive critic. No wonder you are regarded as a joke by the blogging community - even Labour bloggers.

So the worst criticism you can come up with is that there are four broken links in an article of 2400 words. Jesus. You crack me up!

Is that BS I can smell? Oh, no it's just Dale's bad breath!

Are you in love with Dale? Your fascination with him is a tad freaky - like cyber stalking or something. Just an observation.

There were more than 15 broken links Iain, not four. A couple we could forgive, it happens. But half of them when you're writing as a blogging expert? Even you must realise that is at the lite end of the expert spectrum, surely?

How dare you speak for the blogging community? How very dare you? "Even Labour bloggers"!

This is why Iain you are the Labour Party's official favourite Tory Blogger. Come on, even you must see the paradox here? Blogging expert with half links broken?? Come on.

Interesting comment from EHC.

And that's fewer broken links than there are on Chris Paul's list of 'Alpha Blogs' on his own home page, Iain.

This is deleted

(a) because EHC is barred

and

(b) because several of these broken links are in fact annotated

and

(c) unlike Iain's these were right once and have been lost as blogs close down

If there are 15 there that were never right in the first place and start with http://www.blogger.com/followedbyrealURL then you might have a point you lost soul ...

Do you just go round banning anyone you don't agree with? Your future in the Labour Party is secure!!!

That's exactly what he does, DTP. He has not produced a scrap of evidence to support his reasons for me being banned. (Other than the oft-repeated fact that I am a 'twat'. I still haven't worked out what that is an acronym for)

CP now makes some bizarre, false and slightly ominous reference to my IP address. Can I expect a visit from 9 members of the anti-terrorist squad? Better get the kettle on.

Chris Paul said...

I'll leave that one. As you well know you are barred inter alia for circular references, off topic posting, lack of sense of humour, putting off other people from commenting, and most important BECAUSE I SAY SO.

Ahead of getting this comment I have altered the para you reference. Which is on another post.

Clearly your IP address is known to anyone with the most rudimentary free tracking/counting software on their blogs. But it was Iain's little sock puppet I was referring to.

That couldn't be you could it? As you don't swear, do you??

Dick the Prick: As you well know this blog allows a hell of a lot of critical commenting. Unlike say Guido, and often Iain too.

But EHC and friends were providing more than half the comments on the blog. Often posting several times in a row unanswered. Not suitable. Barred. Because I say so.

Dick the Prick said...

EHC - maybe some jaffa cakes too! To be brutally honest - there's lots of comedy value. Even over on the polite Mr Dale's site he gets abuse hurled at him. As my Gran would say 'ah, bless!'.

Guido hardly cuts anything except racism sometimes (if he's not on the Margaux) Anti - semitism (again, if he's sober). He's blocked me a few times but there ain't rhyme nor reason - probably just pissed up - either of us. You really shouldn't read too much into it.

Chris Paul said...

News Flash:

Guido actually cuts almost anything critical of his good self and his opinions and his "facts".

When he gets round to it.

He courts a court of sycophantic, potty-mouthed, sexist, homophobic, racist (though he cuts some of that as you say) "windows lickers" (sic).

Truth be told it is such a hostile, right-wing, blokey, drink-addled environment that most of the time most of us just leave him to it.

Very glad to note DTP that you have a sense of humour. Welcome, at least for now. No promises mind.

It is blokey, hostile, right wing and booze soaked - agree. I think homophobic is a bit strong - homoerotic abusive is perhaps a better fit. That's how blokes operate though, and whilst I completely concede that we're adults and it shouldn't be funny - it really can be.

Blogs allow us to regress back to 14 year old lads in the classroom. Hell, my boss for 5 years used to call me 'a nasty little queer' if there was no one round to be offended and we'd laugh. I think, if done right, it's fine to take the piss out of someone's sexuality and religion, but with far more caveats. It is a fine line.

We are quite a disenfranchised group you know - we do have legitimate concerns about where bureaocracy has taken us. On Iain's site, you can't really swear, have to form some kind of cogent opinion and keep on topic - Guido's can just be a laugh.

Our conspiracy theory is that the left has taken over all state institutions whereas you just appear to be attacking a couple of ace blogs.

Have a good un.

Chris Paul said...

"Ace blogs"? They're both popular. They both have their moments. But they also put out lots of twaddle. yet they seem to think that correcting or responding to that is not permitted.

Particularly true of Dale. I think it is hilarious that he has done a blogging expert master class and included at least ten, more like 15 broken links.

Why won't he just put his hands up and accept that he made a mistake?

Yet again, no evidence presented for allegtions you have made despite them being requested.

When I point out the real reasons you have removed my posts (he fact hat ou have been shown to be a two-faced liar) you remove the post.

Oh, BTW (from your own list)
Sorry, the blog at chrispaullabouroflove.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.

Is this a circular (broken) reference?
