Mr Paul Rowen MP: Westminster Hall Hypocrisy is Piss Poor

Mr Paul Rowen's Westminster Hall "debate" on asbestos in schools lost 26 minutes through divisions in the Commons Chamber and then despite that ended a full eight minutes early. It used just 26 minutes of the possible 60 minutes.

There is no sign that it would have taken any longer had there been no divisions to interrupt. Was there nothing else of consequence, or indeed inconsequence, to be said?

Why did the real asbestos campaigners stay well away? Why did Mr Rowen himself not feel the need to thank the PUSS for her response? Had he already sloped off for a solitary crying into beer session?

Paul Rowen MP and Rochdale Lib Dems are completely hypocritical on the matter of asbestos. This debate of less than a handful of MPs will do nothing to remove that fact from the historical record. Rowen is only "here for the beer".

Rowen is as useful as a chocolate fire guard.

Paul Rowen was almost literally playing with himself on this one.

Not only a hypocrite on asbestos, Chris. But also a total hypocrite where fuel poverty is concerned.

On his website it boasts:

Rochdale’s Lib Dem Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions – Paul Rowen MP yesterday stepped up his call for an end to fuel poverty amongst pensioners. Paul was speaking in a Westminster Debate looking at issues affecting pensioners.

Yet he is unable to speak to his useless Lib Dem council about the fuel poverty they're causing by introducing 35 per cent increases in heating for elderly people in sheltered accommodation.

The MEN have reported on this today.

Thanks anon. Is Paul backing the Lib Dem council's suing and eviction plans over past fuel bills too?

Backing? Isn't that an 'active word'? That would imply he's actually doing something.

He's sitting back and doing nothing. Watching his Lib Dem colleagues trample all over people's dignity and rub their faces in the dirt.

Not a word of protest from Rowen.

He's so crooked he could swallow nails and spit out corkscrews.

Those are harsh words about being crooked but at least you said spitting instead of shitting corkscrews- perish the thought.

It's not as if Rochdale Lib Dems have been, for many years, far too close to senior Rochdale council officers, Rotarians and Freemasons plus local "businessmen" who secretly give donatations to the party and then miraculously get very lucrative contracts and planning permissions.

Or is it?

That is not how Rochdale has been mismanaged for years is it?

Is that why the Town is becoming utterly Rogered?

Shurely not?

If so, there needs to be a police investigation (SOCA) and the Audit Commission from that there London.

Letter in today's MEN.

Dear Editor,

I read an article in the MEN about the decline of Rochdale's town centre. It revealed that people were deserting Rochdale to shop in Bury and featured a request from our MP for people to keep it local and 'use or lose' their town centre.

Instead of bossing us about, wouldn't it be better if our Lib Dem politicians acknowledged that they had overseen this decline and hadn't done enough to make our retail centre as competitive as others?

It's all very well politicians telling us what to do, but do they set an example? I bumped into Councillor Alan Taylor pushing his shopping trolley around Sainsbury's in Heaton Park. We said hello and he didn't seem the slightest bit concerned he wasn't spending his money in Rochdale. Perhaps Paul Rowen could remind him to 'use or lose' our local centre. After all, as the Council's Lib Dem leader, shouldn't he set an example?

Does Paul Rowen "shop local" when using his second home allowance or is that a secret.

Or has he used the John Lewis list?

Rochdale had a Lewis' when Cyril's concrete monstrosity of a shopping centre was built in the 1970's. There was a special deal done to get the retailer into town. it lasted less than 2 years. It was then taken over by Littlewoods but even that closed a couple of years ago. Now empty- like about 30% of the other shops in Cyril's concrete carbuncle.

So what do the geniuses plan for Rochdale's renaissance? Yep- yet another concrete carbuncle shopping centre to go with the other 2 emptying.

Now that the Rochdale Town Centre redevelopment has disappeared up its own arse there is more chance of a John Lewis opening on the moon than on the cratered Rochdale town centre.

And the rot set in with Cyril's little town centre planning deals all those years ago. Property speculators and construction companies have been tag teaming the town ever since the fat spanker groomed the council committees into his way of business back in the 60's and 70's.

Rowen is just taking over from the Smith franchise- one greasy deal at a time.

If cash is accepted but not accounted for properly...isn't that money laundering?

If those in public office do something inproper as a result of receiving the cash then isn't that illegal?

Rowen's latest claims make interesting reading. He appears to have given himself a £10,000 pay rise from the previous year and is claiming substantially more than Jacqui Smith.
