Interim Speaker: Widdy U-Turns 'Cos She Wants To

Widdy is taking soundings from Labour people on a possible tilt at the high chair. Seems to me there would be a good deal more support for this if Widdy was to fight one more election and be an MP, for a goodly period into the next session. Otherwise she would be setting up an election for speaker with what will be a parliament with at least a few new hands. It would be inconvenient of course for a certain former turncoat comrade. Bonus!

While Widdy claims standing again is "non-negotiable" she does appear to have already managed quite a U-Turn. Above, pleading for troughing colleagues to be spared the abattoir of the court of public opinion. Below, practising for PMQs.
