Dale Watch: Still No News Whatsoever on Widdy

Amazing really. Iain Dale still hasn't even mentioned the Observer's Pendennis Story on the intended retirement of his great friend Ms Ann Widdecombe as MP for Maidstone and the Weald. Even though campaign posters have already been designed if not yet booked. What this? Not a new-fangled web-based campaign?! Probably too much for Maids of Kent and Kentish Maids both.

Perhaps the "British Cabinet Minister" (sic Le Monde) Cllr Shireen Ritchie urged a cross in the no publicity box? Perhaps Ann's last endorsement has come home to roost? Blogging today will be light until tiffin time ...

Chris, just to put you out of your misery, The Observer was at least 6 months late with the news that Ann wouldn't be standing at the next election. It's been mentioned elsewhere on several occasions. So there was no reason for me to comment on it, as I am sure you will agree!

Well, if that is indeed the case as I'm sure it is, your form would suggest a comment about the tardiness? Wouldn't it? I must have missed the announcement when you first made it too.

As for misery I've been rather enjoying the chase.

So, is that a Yes?

Good point. I think LOL will continue to refere to Mr Dale as the future member for Maidstone etc ... what does the panel think?

And surely the point of the Observer revelation was that Ann might just stay ... if there were an early election that is ... she's a bit of a tease.

Seems like there are quite a few minty old Tories hanging on along the same lines. Hot for another four or five years, no good for six or seven.

Ashley Crossley is having the Hots on this subject of Dale getting his foot in in Maidstone. As you know all the tory seats are rigged to get the right candidate. You are causing all sorts of headaches by ramping up this subject
