Paddy Power: Huge Betting Opportunity for Crewe

The Political Betters have spoken. The Toffs are of one voice. Humble cobbler Eddie Timpson will win, no question.

What an opportunity!

All the voters of Crewe have to do is this:

* Go to polling station.
* Vote Dunwoody.
* Go to paddypower.com
* Bet on Labour to win at lovely handsome odds.

Let's be honest. You only get 3p in the pound for ET win just now. That's bet £1, get £1:03 back if he wins. Meanwhile you can put a pound on Dunwoody and get at least £20 back just now when she wins. Brilliant! And your votes decide whether you win!

All vote Labour on the QT then go to the betting shop late on and bet the farm. Encourage your friends to do likewise! That way they can have a double kicking.

Paddy Power are apparently already paying out on a Tory win.

In London the same firm had the decency to wait until the polls closed (just) to pay out on Boris. In this case they are paying out before the polls even open.

This crass marketing exercise, rather like Cameron's non-policy announcements, offers a super fun opportunity for sporting folk. Particularly those with votes in Crewe and Nantwich.

Bet on Labour, vote Labour, or vice versa.

Pass Go, Collect £200. Or very similar winnings.

Hmm, I've been following this campaign almost every day for the past week and I've got a better idea. Either don't vote or vote for Gemma Garett on the principle that she is nice to look at.

Whatever you do, don't vote in Crewe for the party that privatised the railways, or the party that refused to take them back into public ownership.

Bet on Labour, lose your money.

Not very clever, is it!

Well Exile, fair enough, Gemma wants more pay for soldiers, and tax deductible child care.

I was quite impressed with the grab back of the rail for no money ... though getting the trains back too would of course make the full set.

Letters from a Tory: Hint - this post is NOT for amusement only. It is a very serious strategy developed by New Labour HQ for whom I am a full time stooge and with whom I have now bet the farm.

Looking forward to Labour losing big tonight after that silly 'toffs' rubbish.

Ask yourself what is going on in GMCF, Elsmere Port and Bury Council.

It comes to something when even arch hold-out Chris Paul throws in the towel.

Can we take his resignation as also a steer that he has given up on the next general election too.

Desperate though Labour's predicament is I would have thought Paul could find lots of dead sheep to flog.

Chris,

You're being missed over on Iain Dale's blog.

So much so that someone's even impersonated you and put up "your" prediction of the Labour majority in the C&N by-election.

Oh God! Tell me you really are a parody.

"Put a quid on Labour to win a seat rock-solid safe for Labour since the war, even in 83 - and the bookies'll give you £20 if we do win, so sure are they that we won't. Excellent news for Labour! Cameron'll be crying into his beer!"

Rearrange the following: Out Head of Sand Pull.

Both Pickles and Rennard are predicting Tory majority around 6000 I understand.

Auntie is reporting that the Tories have about 50% of the vote with Nu-Lab second on 28%. The Lib-Dems are coming in third with 17%.

It looks as if the Labour vote just sat at home - turnout about 30% in those areas. Tory wards turned out over 60%.

Diablo said...

Yep, 58.2% turnout suggests that the Tories have got the vote out in big numbers. Melt down time, Chris. Face it - you are down and very out.

OH NOES! No £20 then.

Diablo said...

Now it's a 49% share of the vote for the Conservatives. Is that clear enough for you Chris?

Sadly Gemma came in last, which means that I don't really have an excuse to post yet another photo of her at The Exile.

Seriously, a realignment is under way in British politics. You can see it clearly in south Wales where an independent MP and plenty of similar councillors have been elected.

Well well well. Hats off to John Piennar who did win £20 in the BBC sweep calling it at 7,800 ahead of the count.

I'm only glad the Lib Dems didn't overtake Labour on this one. Always unlikely given the clear destination for a protest vote, but there was a point in this sorry campaign where I thought it might happen.

The smirk Nick Robinson's blog is useful in showing some MUCH BIGGER swings FROM Tories in mid terms.

Bring on Henley ...

I've asked myself, and I don't know the answer off the top of my head. Don't even know what GMCF is? Conservative Future?

Mistoffelees said...

Bring on Henley ...

Surely you're having a laugh?

It says a lot for our democratic traditions that they don't just have a coronation there, as there's precious little point in actually voting!

King of the Swingers said...

GMCF is indeed Greater Manchester Conservative Future. All I will say is who is young enough to be under 30, on Bury Council and is in Elsmere Port (but not alot).

Chris Paul said...

Right, that's clear as mud. Will investigate, assuming it's Ellesmere Port you mean ...

Ahaa .... Stuart Penketh?

Bingo!
