Newsnight Crick: Bears and Toilets, Popes and Hats, Tory and Loony
Newsnight's Michael Crick had another barn burner of a story on his blog, Tuesday. About some Tory PPCs and Local Associations needing watching because of their potential to embarrass the party as it tries to look electable, even caring. I would close down Iain Dale and Nadine Dorries MP first if I were Dave. This continually present danger of friendly fire damaging their party is why they are the Labour Party's Favourite His and Hers Tory Bloggers.
Someone has suggested to me via email that Nadine completely made up the scene setting part of her ridiculous New Year's Eve/New Year's Day blog post. Complete fantasy from a "no mates" MP they say. Until she started hinting about cuts to health and education. That was real enough. That's what they're really thinking "out there" in Tory La La Land.
UPDATE Sun 22:02: I should point out that AFAIK these anonymised emails were idle speculation based on Nadine's prose and not on any evidence base. Not even circumstantial evidence. And, apart from the champagne charlie and the huge throbbing organ of computation, there can have been no witnesses.

'I would close down Iain Dale...' - Good grief man - the myriad levels of ignorance this portrays are boggling.
A) He can't - it's private.
B) Debate - whoa, shut that up
C) The plebs expressing opinion - NO!
D) Excellent opportunity to float things thru grassroots.
E) It winds up bloggers like yourself whose only visitors are your mum, your mum's next door neighbour and people like me who check to see how few comments you have and to view how nuts you are this week.
F) Dave has bugger all to fear from people who disagree with him, ye gods - it's almost like he may have to compromise (an alien concept to the Labour party I know - look it up)
G) You can just go around banning things because your home made superiority, may, on reflection be hokkum.
H) etc etc etc.
I) I suggest you look up the word liberty, not the Shami vehicle to do the interior design of the truly fascist and draconian administration that Labour has enacted over the last 12 years, but you know, what liberty actually means.
Seriously Chris - your tribalism is quite offensive to yourself. You're not engaged in politics no matter how much you convince yourself that you are. You're in a theatre troupe - a parody of the serious business that affects people's lives.
How old are you really, i'm quite interested - it's a genuine question.
Shutting Dale down? Joke. Obvious joke. Are you 8 years old?
So I'll obviously ignore this twaddle. As far as I'm concerned the more people read Dale etc the better. He's our favourite Tory blogger. But Nads ain't far behind.
They do have some control over her. A whip hand. Her blog is an absolute disgrace. Including repeating her anti-traveller superstition and cant this week.
Tory CCHQ can and should shut that down or temper it. I, of course, hope they don't.
Obviously it is people in CCHQ who think that maverick candidates and local associations are a problem. I think it is a boon. But that is the essence of the Crick story.
